If you hate waiting in line, traveling by air can be stressful. Enrolling in Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® can help you cut down on the dreaded experience by allowing you to speed through security and immigration screening lines.

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows pre-approved travelers to visit self-service immigration kiosks when returning from international destinations. Meanwhile, TSA PreCheck® is a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) program that expedites the airport security screening process, allowing eligible travelers to keep on shoes, belts, and light jackets, while leaving laptops and eligible liquids in their bags.

Registration for these programs isn’t free. The enrollment fee for Trusted Traveler programs is $120 for Global Entry, which includes complimentary enrollment in TSA PreCheck®, or up to $85 for TSA PreCheck® alone.

Fortunately, many of the best travel credit cards offer statement credits to cover the cost of your registration. When you’re shopping for a travel credit card, pay close attention to whether the benefit fully covers the program’s application fee, and how often the credit renews. Enrollment is valid for five years in either program, so cards with this benefit typically issue the credit once every four to 4.5 years.

Some cards renew the credit once every four years, which aligns with TSA PreCheck’s validity period. Others extend the benefit renewal to every 4.5 years, matching Global Entry’s five-year cycle. This makes timing your application — or renewal — easy when paired with the right card.

This guide introduces many of the best credit cards with Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® enrollment credits, so you can make an informed decision about which option is right for you.

The United℠ Explorer Card is the credits-rich starter: for a $150 fee (waived year one) it packs the MileagePlus card-member award discount, a free first checked bag for you and a companion, two United Club one-time passes, and a stack of hotel, rideshare, Instacart, and travel credits. Don't expect strong earning beyond United, just 2x hotels/dining.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® earns 8x on Chase Travel℠ including The Edit, 4x on flights and hotels booked direct, and 3x on dining, then piles on travel credits and Sapphire Lounge access with two free guests. The $795 fee only pays off if you use the credits; everything outside travel and dining earns just 1x.
