Great question! Searching for flights you can book with points is a little different than searching for flights you might pay for with money, but it’s usually worth the effort!
Don’t give up if you don’t immediately find the perfect flight to book with points. We recommend trying one or more of these tips:
Be flexible: Try searching for different dates or explore alternative airports and destinations. Alternatively, sometimes it’s worth trying a different class of service. You might be pleasantly surprised to discover that you can fly in business or first class for the same or marginally more points than economy.
Be patient: Reward flight inventory changes rapidly. If you don’t find what you’re looking for today, try again later.
Don’t wait: When you spot a reward flight that works for you, book it. Reward flight inventory can change rapidly, so we always recommend booking immediately. Note, however, that if you change your mind or find a different flight, you might be subject to airline change/refund fees.
Search one-way: Even if you intend to travel roundtrip, we always recommend searching for your outbound and inbound flights separately. Most airlines allow one-way reward tickets, which means you’ll get better results if you search for the two legs individually.
Be realistic & creative: Hoping to use points for a last-minute, summer trip with your family of 4 to Europe in business class? While not impossible, this will be a rare find. Most airlines offer only a limited number of reward seats, so using points for large groups can be tough. Consider booking some seats with points and purchasing additional seats with cash or splitting up your group and taking separate flights.
