Wells Fargo points often get overlooked in the points and miles conversation. And while it’s true that it has the smallest partner list of the six major banks, that’s an old story. The newer story is that Wells Fargo keeps adding partners, and its cards can earn a lot for either no annual fee, or a low one. There are no exclusives here. But a solid partner list plus easy earning make it a good budget entry into the world of transferable points. As with any transfer, the “best” choice often depends on your route, your cabin, the cash fees, and seat availability.

**Wells Fargo Rewards best uses at a glance:**

- Wells Fargo has the smallest partner list of the major bank currencies, but it covers more than its size suggests, headlined by JetBlue (at full 1:1 value) and the Avios family.
- Wells Fargo points, sometimes called Wells Fargo Rewards points, transfer to 10 airline and hotel transfer partners, nearly all at a 1:1 ratio.
- The benefit here is the cards, not the roster. The $0 Autograph card transfers points to every partner at full value, which is the cheapest way into transferable points of any bank.
- Two hotel partners double your points during a transfer. Choice Privileges and Wyndham both come in at 1:2.
- Award space moves fast. Lock in a bookable seat before you transfer, since Wells Fargo transfers cannot be undone.

## How do you get the most value from Wells Fargo Rewards points?

You get the most value by transferring Wells Fargo points to an airline or hotel partner and booking an award that’s worth far more than its cash price. The partner roster is limited, so the trick is knowing the handful of partners that offer real value. The travel portal should be your backup plan, not your first choice for using your points.

### Transfer Wells Fargo points to airline and hotel partners for the best value

Wells Fargo points transfer straight into an airline or hotel loyalty program. You can then book an award from there. Wells Fargo’s real strength is the cost of entry. The $0 Autograph card transfers points to every partner at full value, which no other bank can match at that fee. So Wells Fargo is the cheapest way to get into transferable points, period.

### When the Wells Fargo travel portal can be the better choice

The Wells Fargo travel portal can be worth using in a few cases. Lean on it when you don’t have flexibility on your travel date or time, and can't wait for an award seat to open up. You can also use it when cash fares are so cheap that a transfer would be a bad use of your points. ## What are the best Wells Fargo Rewards redemptions?

The table below sums up the redemptions that offer good value, plus two hotel options and information on using the portal.

| **Best for** | **Example use** | **Program** | **Why it offers value** | **Key caveat** |
| JetBlue flights | JetBlue flights or Condor business to Frankfurt | JetBlue TrueBlue | A full-value JetBlue path most banks lack, and Condor releases strong business space through it | JetBlue prices are based on the cash value of their own flights, so watch the rate |
| Europe in any cabin | Economy, premium economy, or business to Europe | Air France-KLM Flying Blue | Competitive pricing on its own flights, plus rotating monthly discounts | Monthly discounts rarely include business class |
| Off-peak transatlantic business | U.S. to Madrid on Iberia | Iberia Club | Off-peak award pricing on Iberia flights, with lower cash fees than British Airways flights | Off-peak dates only, and about two business seats per flight |
| American or British Airways flights | Long-haul in the oneworld alliance | Cathay Pacific Asia Miles | Lower miles cost and lower cash fees than booking British Airways through its own program | Cathay sees fewer member-only seats than British Airways members |
| Hotels at a gain | Value stays in pricey markets in Europe | Choice Privileges | Both transfer at 1:2, so your points double before you book | Limited properties, and there are no real luxury options |
| Must-fly certainty | A specific flight you can't risk losing | Wells Fargo travel portal | A bookable cash seat at a fixed point value, no waiting on award space | Returns less than a well-chosen transfer on most premium trips |

## What are the best ways to use Wells Fargo points for flights?

These are the flight redemptions to focus on.

### Fly JetBlue and Condor via JetBlue TrueBlue

- **Best for:** Travelers who like to fly with JetBlue, or Condor business class to Frankfurt, at a full-value transfer.
- **Route, cabin, and program:** JetBlue-operated flights, including Mint, and Condor flights booked through JetBlue, all via JetBlue TrueBlue.
- **Why it offers value:** Most banks either skip JetBlue or give you  a reduced transfer ratio. Wells Fargo points, however, transfer to TrueBlue at full value, which is rare. A strong but little-known option is Condor business class to Frankfurt. Condor releases better award space to JetBlue than to its other partners.
- **Fees and trade-offs:** JetBlue prices its own awards based on their cash value. So a pricey cash fare means a pricey award. Check the points cost against the cash price before you transfer. JetBlue also refunds taxes on award tickets as a credit rather than cash if you cancel.
- **Availability and execution:** Confirm that the award is available and bookable before you transfer your points, because Wells Fargo transfers are one-way. Condor award space is a standout. Search those dates first.

### Fly to Europe in any cabin via Air France-KLM Flying Blue

- **Best for:** Wells Fargo travelers open to economy or premium economy who want a transatlantic option with even a modest points balance.
- **Route, cabin, and program:** Air France and KLM flights to Europe in any cabin, booked through Flying Blue, the SkyTeam program.
- **Why it offers value:** For a smaller Wells Fargo balance, Flying Blue's low economy pricing is the redemption you can actually afford without a lot of saving up beforehand. It prices its own flights well and posts its minimum award prices openly, and its Promo Rewards calendar features a rotating list of discounted routes every month.
- **Fees and trade-offs:** Cash fees are reasonable. The monthly Promo Rewards discounts almost never include business class, so use Flying Blue for economy and premium-economy trips.
- **Availability and execution:** Flying Blue releases more space to its own members than to partners. It also allows holds by phone. Check the list of [current transfer bonuses](https://www.point.me/insights/current-transfer-bonuses/), since Flying Blue is one of the most frequently bonused partners across banks.

### Fly to Spain in business class off-peak via Iberia Club

- **Best for:** Solo travelers and couples flying to Madrid or onward into Europe who can travel on off-peak dates.
- **Route, cabin, and program:** Iberia-operated flights to Spain in business class, booked through Iberia Plus. Iberia is a oneworld program that prices awards in Avios, the same currency British Airways uses.
- **Why it offers value:** Wells Fargo points transfer to Iberia at full value even from the zero-fee Autograph card. So this off-peak sweet spot is open to even the cheapest card in the lineup. Iberia runs an off-peak award chart, charging fewer Avios on off-peak dates than at peak, and it passes on lower cash fees than British Airways.
- **Fees and trade-offs:** That off-peak chart covers only Iberia's own flights, not British Airways flights sold through Iberia. Iberia mostly releases just two or so business-class seats per flight, so a big family can't all sit up front.
- **Availability and execution:** Check Iberia's own peak and off-peak calendar rather than guessing on summer travel dates. Stick to nonstop flights, because multi-segment trips price each leg separately.

### Fly American or British Airways flights via Cathay Asia Miles

- **Best for:** Long-haul oneworld travelers looking to spend the fewest miles and the least amount of cash.
- **Route, cabin, and program:** British Airways and American flights, booked through Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. Cathay is a oneworld program and also prices its award flights in Avios.
- **Why it offers value:** Wells Fargo points do not transfer directly to American, which makes Cathay the workhorse oneworld partner here. When booking through Cathay, the same British Airways flights often cost fewer miles (and have lower cash fees) than booking through British Airways directly.
- **Fees and trade-offs:** Cathay’s booking site generally shows fewer BA award seats than you’d find on British Airways itself. (BA reserves these for its own members.) If you’re hunting for a specific British Airways flight, you may need to book through British Airways. British Airways also adds high fuel surcharges on its own transatlantic flights.
- **Availability and execution:** Search both programs when you want a specific British Airways flight, and let cost and availability decide.

## What are the best ways to use Wells Fargo points for hotels?

Wells Fargo's hotel value is real, and for a good reason: two of its hotel partners have favorable transfer ratios where you gain points, which is unusual. It's worth knowing how this works.

### Book value hotels via Choice Privileges or Wyndham Rewards

- **Best for:** Travelers who want mid-tier or value hotels, especially in expensive markets, rather than aspirational luxury properties.
- **Hotel use and program:** Award nights at Choice and Wyndham properties, booked by transferring Wells Fargo points to Choice Privileges or Wyndham Rewards. Both transfer at 1:2. So your points double before you book.
- **Why it offers value:** Choice is one of two Wells Fargo hotel partners that transfer at a gain, which means your Wells Fargo points double in the transfer process. A modest balance can go a long way in these programs. Choice stretches furthest in pricey markets like Europe, and Wyndham can cover larger villa-style stays for families at select resorts.
- **Limitations:** Both programs have somewhat limited availability and neither is a luxury program. As always, weigh the points cost against the cash price first.

### More Wells Fargo points tricks and workarounds

A great Wells Fargo tip to remember: The minimum transfer amount per transaction is just 1 point. This can be hugely helpful for programs where miles expire after a period of inactivity. Just move a single point into a partner program to reset this expiration clock. You’ll keep your miles active without having to transfer lots of points. No other bank's minimum transaction amount allows for this.

This guide also covers pairing Wells Fargo with other bank currencies, and how to use its convenient catch-all earning categories.

### Which Wells Fargo Rewards redemptions should you avoid?

A few Wells Fargo strategies return less value than they should. Stay clear of these.

- Don't redeem Wells Fargo points for cash back, gift cards, or merchandise. All of them return less value than the travel portal, and the value found in the portal is usually beaten by a good points transfer.
- Skip avianca lifemiles unless you're booking close to departure. The rates can be good, but the service is poor, the change and cancellation fees are steep, and there's little help when a partner cancels a flight.
- Wells Fargo does not offer a business card points-earning option. Only Wells Fargo's personal cards earn transferable points.
- Wells Fargo is a supplemental currency that many people use alongside points from other banks – often ones with larger partner rosters. Pair it with a bigger program like Amex, Capital One, or Bilt to expand your booking options.
- Only transfer points after a seat or room is confirmed and bookable. Wells Fargo transfers are one-way and rarely reversible.

### Frequently asked questions about using Wells Fargo Rewards points

#### Does the no-fee Wells Fargo card transfer points at full value?

Yes. The no-annual-fee Autograph transfers to every Wells Fargo partner at full value, which makes it the cheapest entry into transferable points of any major bank. That full-value, no-fee transfer is Wells Fargo's strongest single feature.

#### Can a business owner earn Wells Fargo transferable points?

Not directly. Only Wells Fargo's personal travel cards, the Autograph and Autograph Journey, earn transferable points; its business cards don't. A business owner who wants transferable points should earn them on a personal Wells Fargo card, or with another bank.

#### Why would I transfer just one Wells Fargo point?

Some airline and hotel partners put an expiration date on your miles. Moving a single point to that partner can extend that expiration date. It keeps your miles active, and you don’t have to move 1,000 or even 2,000 points to do it. Many programs count any transfer as activity, so a single point can keep a whole balance alive. No other bank allows a transfer this small.

## Summary and expert verdict

The best way to use Wells Fargo points is to transfer them to partners that overdeliver within a short list: JetBlue at full value, the Avios family through Iberia and Cathay, and the two hotel programs that double your points on the way in. With a small partner roster and no exclusives, Wells Fargo works best as a low-cost companion to a bigger program. The real benefit here is the affordable entry point, since even the $0 card lets you transfer points at full value.

### point.me take

*— Jimmy Yoon, Head of Points Intelligence, point.me*

My take is that Wells Fargo points are one to keep an eye on. They've been gradually adding transfer partners over the past year, so it'll be interesting to see how the program develops. That said, their partner list is currently one of the smallest out there, so this isn't a currency to put all your eggs in; it's one you'll want to pair with another program.

The thing I really like about Wells Fargo is the combination of a 1:1 transfer ratio across all their partners and a 1-point minimum transfer requirement. Most programs make you move at least 1,000 points at a time, in 1,000-point increments. Wells Fargo lets you transfer as little as a single point, in increments of one. So if you're booking a redemption that doesn't land on a round 1,000, you don't have to worry about orphaned or leftover points; you just transfer exactly what you need.
