Hilton is one of the world’s most well-known hotel chains, with over 24 distinct brands across 8,000 locations worldwide. Whether you’re looking for a luxury getaway or a budget-friendly hotel for your next adventure, Hilton probably has an option for you. Hilton’s loyalty program, Hilton Honors, allows members to redeem points for hotel stays, experiences, and a variety of other options.

It can be challenging to know when you’re getting a good deal, so many travelers tend to bank their points in hopes of finding a perfect redemption. Since these points are a form of currency, the value of each point will vary depending on how you use it. Here’s everything to know about how much Hilton Honors points are worth.

The value of Hilton Honors points when booking with Hilton

Unfortunately, Hilton doesn’t publish an award chart, so it’s a little more complicated to know how many points you’ll need for a free stay. Redemptions range from 5,000 points per night to 2000,000 points per night. On average, you can expect a valuation of around 0.5 cents per point, with a range between 0.3 and over 1 cent apiece. Hilton publishes a Points Explorer tool. So, if you know approximately how many points you’d like to spend per night on a trip, you can browse potential destinations to get some inspiration.

I am visiting London at the beginning of October, and the number of points required for a free night is all over the place. The NoMad London would cost 435,000 points per night, and with a cash rate of $873, I’d get a fraction of 1 cent in value per point.

This isn’t always the case. You can visit the Hilton Bentley Miami/South Beach in December for $1,014 per night or 100,000 points, which gives you a valuation of 1 cent per point.

If you are flexible with your dates, it can be beneficial to use the flexible date calendar to determine which times offer the lowest redemption rates.

The value of Hilton Honors points when transferring to a partner

You can transfer your Hilton Honors points to over two dozen airline or hospitality loyalty programs. However, the transfer ratios are generally not ideal, so we don’t recommend redeeming your points in this way.

What can you get with your Hilton Honors points?

Apart from free nights at Hilton Honors properties, you can use your points for experiences, Lyft rides, shopping, rental cars, and more.

Experiences

If you’ve already booked your hotel for your next vacation, you can book your experiences using points as well. Hilton Honors Experiences differs from competitor programs, like FIND Experiences by World of Hyatt. Hilton’s program is much smaller, and it doesn’t display the cash price of the experience you’re booking, which makes it harder to determine if it’s a good value for your points.

For example, you can use 30,000 Hilton Honors points to book an Agave Tasting in Tulum. To determine whether it’s worth the points, consider how unique the experience is and whether you think you could book it for an affordable cash price elsewhere. If you unlock access to a once-in-a-lifetime experience, redeeming your points in this way could be worthwhile.

The platform also features auctions, allowing you to bid on experiences, including things like a two-night stay at the Hilton Cartagena with included activities.

When you successfully redeem points for an experience, the Hilton Honors Experiences team will reach out to you within two business days to confirm your contact information. A representative from the Experiences will then reach out within five business days to schedule the experience. Once it’s all confirmed, you’re ready to enjoy.

Lyft rides

You can redeem your Hilton Honors points for Lyft credits toward rides. You have to redeem a minimum of 4,500 points at the following rates:

  • $10 Lyft credit: 4,500 Points
  • $25 Lyft credit: 11,250 Points
  • $50 Lyft credit: 22,500 Points
  • $75 Lyft credit: 33,750 Points
  • $100 Lyft credit: 45,000 Points

This isn’t the best value for your Hilton Honors points, but it can be an option if you have some points that you don’t know what to do with. To get started, you’ll need to link your Hilton Honors and Lyft accounts. Even if you don’t want to redeem Hilton points for Lyft rides, you should still link your accounts so you can earn Hilton points on your Lyft rides.

Amazon purchases

You can redeem your Hilton Honors points at Amazon.com for millions of items from all of Amazon’s top categories. You can use Hilton points to cover some or all of your purchase. 700 Hilton Honors points are equivalent to $1 at checkout. This offers a lower redemption rate than Lyft, so you’ll want to use this option sparingly.

Rental cars

You can reserve a rental car through Hilton’s car rental redemption portal with Alamo, Enterprise, or National. You can redeem Hilton points and money, starting at just 12,000 points. Like some of the other redemption methods, this isn’t a great option — a one-night car rental at the end of July in Wilmington, North Carolina, would cost close to 40,000 points. The rental would cost just $54.62, so it’s not a worthwhile redemption.

Event credits

If you want to host an event like your wedding or a conference at a Hilton property, you can use your points to purchase event credits:

  • $50 event credit = 25,000 points
  • $100 event credit = 50,000 points
  • $150 event credit = 75,000 points
  • $250 event credit = 125,000 points
  • $500 event credit = 250,000 points

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. This gives you a terrible valuation of your points. You can use these event credits toward room rentals, catering, and A/V solutions.

Frequently asked questions about Hilton Honors points

How much are 10,000 Hilton Honors points worth?

10,000 Hilton Honors points are worth around $50, though the exact valuation depends on how you redeem them.  You’d need a little over 10,000 (11,250) for a $25 Lyft credit. It’s hard to find Hilton properties bookable for as few as 10,000 points per night, but they are out there. The Hampton by Hilton Samsun in Turkey is 10,000 points, or $64.

How much are 30,000 Hilton Honors points worth?

30,000 Hilton Honors points are worth around $150, depending on how you redeem them.  For just 25,000 Hilton Honors points, you can have cocktails under the sea at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Or, you can book a floating breakfast for two at the Conrad Koh Samui. It’s difficult to put a price on these experiences, but the memories will last a lifetime.

How much are 50,000 Hilton Honors points worth?

50,000 Hilton Honors points are worth around $250 when redeemed for hotel stays.  For 50,000 Hilton Honors points, you can also book a four-course dinner for two with a bottle of wine at the Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. If you’re already staying at the property, using points for fun experiences and meals can be a great way to reduce the cost of a vacation.

How much are 75,000 Hilton Honors points worth?

75,000 Hilton Honors points are worth $375 toward hotel stays, though the exact value will vary. For example, 74,000 Hilton Honors points could get you a night at the Cameo Beverly Hills, which is valued around $268. You could also use 80,000 Hilton Honors points for an 80-minute spa experience at the Waldorf Astoria Spa Los Cabos Pedregal, valued at $365.

How much are 100,000 Hilton Honors points worth?

You can use 100,000 Hilton Honors points for one night at the Hilton Cancun, an All-Inclusive Resort. With a cash fare as low as $375, that’s not the best value of your points, but it is worth considering during peak travel season.

How many Hilton Honors points does it take for a free hotel night?

The number of points required for a free night depends on the hotel, the time of year, room type, and other factors. Using the Points Explorer tool, there are only a handful of Hilton hotels bookable for 10,000 points per night or less. You’ll start to notice more availability when you get closer to 50,000 points per night.

Do Hilton Honors points expire?

Hilton Honors points expire after 24 months of inactivity. To avoid this, you can stay at any hotel in the Hilton portfolio, earn points with a Hilton Honors credit card, earn or redeem points with any Hilton Honors partner, buy points, or donate them.

Summary

Hilton Honors points might not be quite as valuable as those from other hotels, but they can still take you places. If you’re a Hilton loyalist, consider applying for a Hilton credit card to accumulate points faster. Even the no-annual-fee card earns 7 points per dollar on Hilton stays, so you can quickly earn enough points for your next redemption. Hilton Honors is a great loyalty program worth looking into if you haven’t already.
